Dreamer’s “dream” and doers “do”.
If they keep any lists at all, dreamers will keep a “procrastination list” whereas doers keep an “implementation list”.
Irrespective of the possible awesome power of the dreamers “dream”, ultimate success (measured in any way you want) is to be found in the implementation by the doer.
Are doers more successful than dreamers?
Damn right they are and the biggest difference between the two is in the lists (mental or otherwise) they keep.
Can you think of any successful person who isn’t a doer?
I can’t.
If you want to be a doer, and fervently on the road to success, stop thinking about a ‘procrastination list’ and start preparing an “implementation list” because success is to be found in the “doing”.
Here are a few thoughts to get you on the road to success via “doing”. They are what doers “do” and dreamers “don’t”.
Clarify the Intention
Doers will take the dream and document it, dissect it and discuss it until the dream becomes a practical commercial possibility consisting of delegated tasks, duties and deadlines.
Focus the Attention
Doers will proceed methodically in accordance with the detailed plan. They will refer often to the accountability systems which have been established to ensure their attention is focused on what is required to be done, when, by whom and to the required exacting standard of workmanship.
Act with Purpose & Speed
Doers act enthusiastically and with purpose; they take a “no excuses” approach to getting things done. They know that doing the most important thing with passion and purpose is far better than doing that which they enjoy doing and far, far better than doing nothing at all!
Doers rejoice in achieving a result and they are even prepared to fail every so often…that’s part of the learning curve. But when they fail, they fail fast and with no recriminations, only lessons learnt. Fail fast? Yes, because they want to get onto the next project.
Meanwhile, the dreamers keep dreaming!
The choice is yours.
By the way, it’s very possible that dreamers don’t act because they don’t want it badly enough (whatever the “it” might be). I discuss this scenario here.
